Dr. Bruce Tofias is an Internist practicing adult primary care medicine. He is passionate about embracing excellent compassionate care where everyone is treated like family. Having practiced for over 30 years at Newton Wellesley hospital he is pleased to continue this tradition, joining Needham Wellesley Family Medicine in 2014.

Dr. Tofias grew up in Newton, and is blessed with a wonderful wife, 3 children and grandchildren, all living locally. He did his undergraduate studies at Middlebury College and went to Tufts University School of Medicine, completing his medical training at Newton Wellesley Hospital. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Over the years Dr Tofias has served in many capacities at Newton Wellesley Hospital and Partners, including 20 years on the Newton Wellesley Hospital Ethics Committee, several as the co-chairman. He holds clinical teaching positions at Tufts and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and continues to greatly enjoy teaching medical students and physician assistant students, and remains involved with the Newton Wellesley Hospital residency program. He has been recognized as a Master Clinician by the Hospital. He has received teaching awards and a Partner’s Life time achievement in medicine award, among other accolades.

Medicine is a defining characteristic of Dr Tofias’ life but he finds time and great pleasure in family, gardening, biking, rollerblading, playing ice hockey and leisure time on the Cape sailing. He treasures his patient’s confidence and sees their willingness to share their care with him as a gift.
